Global Communication Paper

“Global communication is the process of transmitting and receiving information on a world-wide scale” (Dickson, 2004).  Lately, it had become hard to talk with other countries, for examples, time, distance, and language barriers. However, due to evolution of technology, it had become really easy to communicate. It had changed people’s life on social, cultural, and political levels.  In the past ten years, globalization has been promoted in many ways to communicate and do business around the world.
Global communication is a way of communicating for many centuries. Recently, it’s harder to communicate with different countries.  The reason why it’s hard to communicate with other countries was due to time, distance, and languages.  People live all over the world and the times are always different, such as, if it’s morning in the United States; it might be night time in Japan.  The distance is another major issue.  People live and were born in different countries.  Therefore, people have different languages.  It’s hard to communicate when people have different language because everyone has their way of speaking.  Without communication, it’s hard to do any kind of business.
Evolving technology has made communication easier by many technologies.  The communication Satellite, computers, internet, and mobile phone have been powerful for people.  Mobile phone has been important.  The use of mobile phone “has continued to grow, with 72% of households having access to a mobile phone in 2002” (Dickson, 2004).  Computers and internet gives any kinds of information to people that they are looking for.  There are many ways the Communication satellite works.  They are used in “communications and television broadcast, weather forecasting, navigation, observing land, sea and air and other scientific communications” (Dickson, 2004).
Evolving technology has changed life on social, cultural, and political levels.  By the new evolving technology, the way people do business and work is different.  They could communicate through technology easily, such as, Skype in the computers.  By communicating through technology, people could relate and interact with one another.  Therefore, by communicating with each other, they could create, learn, and process all kinds of information.
In conclusion, global communication is very important for people around the world in many ways. It’s related to many things, such as, work. Communication is such an important part of life and with the evolving technology; it’ll help improve people with their important needs.

Diane Hacker site

In the Diane Hacker site, I found many practice exercises to improve my writing skills. For example, some of the practice exercises I liked were word choice, punctuation, and the transitions. I found this website to be very useful, especially the transition exercise. It helped give me ideas and extra words to choose from instead of my own same words. Another thing I found interesting was when I got the answers right, it showed in a box below that I selected the correct answer. However, when I got the wrong answers, it said sorry and it explained to me why it was wrong. There were three things I learned. I learned how to not write run-on sentences, for example, the incorrect answer they gave me was, “My sister Elaine was awarded the Medal of Honor, however, she was not able to attend the awards ceremony.” The correct answer was, “My sister Elaine was awarded the Medal of Honor, but she was not able to attend the awards ceremony. The other information I learned was about the purpose and audience, for example, I had to pick which one sound correct; this sentence is correct, “After the machine stops, move the control lever to the reverse position.” This one is incorrect, “Move the control lever to the reverse position after the machine stops. The last thing I learned was about numbers. I had to pick which one are the best and correct, such as, the two examples it gave me was “At the back of the garden are six large azaleas” and “At the back of the garden are 6 large azaleas.” The sentence with the writing six is the correct answer.
